HOW IS FRANCE PREPARING FOR THE OLYMPICS AND PARALYMPICS?

OLYMPICS - The organisers of Paris 2024 say the parliamentary elections called by French President Emmanuel Macron will not disrupt preparations for the Games. However, the mayor of the French capital says holding elections less than a month before the Games begin is "extremely unsettling". The summer Olympics run from 26 July to 11 August, with 10,500 athletes competing in 329 events. The Paralympics take place from 28 August to 8 September, featuring 4,400 athletes in 549 events. There will be 206 countries represented at the Olympics, and 184 at the Paralympics... More HERE

 

COURTAULD TO EXHIBIT CLAUDE MONET’S PAINTINGS OF LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 120 YEARS

ART - A series of 21 paintings by Claude Monet depicting views of London’s Thames River will be exhibited for the first time in the UK at the Courtauld Institute of Art from September 27. The gallery describes the works as “amongst the most significant representations of the Thames ever made.”. The French artist, widely regarded as the father of impressionism, started the works during three visits to the English capital totaling six months between 1899 and 1901...More HERE
